Introduction
A. There are many popular love stories that have been written, and there are many great love stories in the Bible.
B. The most beautiful love story of all is found in God’s word.
Discussion
I. “Jacob loved Rachel” (Genesis 29:18).
A. There is no denying that Jacob was physically attracted to Rachel (Genesis 29:17)
B. Jacob made sacrifices for Rachel (Genesis 29:18, 20, 28).
C. Jacob would do anything to protect Rachel and her children (Genesis 33:1–2; 42:38).
II. The Bible is really about God’s love for His children.
A. God provides for His children (Genesis 2:8–25).
B. God also rebukes His children (Hebrews 12:5–11).
C. There is nothing that God would not give for the children He loves so much (Romans 8:31–32; John 3:16).
D. What is most remarkable about God’s love for us is the fact that there was nothing especially attractive about us (Romans 5:8; Ephesians 5:25–27; Ezekiel 16:1–22).
Conclusion
A. Those who love God have the promise of a crown (James 1:12) and that all things will work together for good (Romans 8:28).
B. No one will ever love you the way the Lord does. How will you choose to requite His love?
