What to Expect When You Visit the Church of Christ
We are a friendly people who welcome every person to come and see what we do and how we do it. We try to do Bible things in Bible ways (John 4:24).
Singing
This is a beautiful way we glorify God’s name and teach, encourage, and admonish each other (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16). You will notice a lack of mechanical instruments in our singing—as this addition is nowhere authorized in the New Testament. You are welcome to join us in singing to God.
Praying
We also pray in all our services (1 Thessalonians 5:17). We pray for the sick, for our visitors, for our government, and for every person. During different times, some men from the congregation will lead us in public prayer (Acts 2:42). We reverently pray to the Father (Mateo 6:9) by the authority or name of Jesus (John 14:12-14; 1 Timothy 2:5).
Teaching
The teaching of the Word of God is an essential part of each of our services. Our teaching is based on the Bible and only the Bible (1 Peter 4:11), and we encourage the audience to search the Scriptures as the message is delivered (Acts 17:11). Our teaching lacks dramas and/or other modern tendencies incompatible with the simplicity and order of the Gospel (1 Corinthians 14:40).
Communion
Each first day of the week, Christians are commanded to unanimously remember the sacrifice of Jesus through the elements of the unleavened bread and the fruit of the vine (Acts 20:7). This is a memorial instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 26:26-29).
Giving
Each first day of the week, Christians are also commanded to set apart a generous giving for the work of the Lord (1 Corinthians 16:1-2). We do not collect offerings in any other of our days of service, since there is no authorization to do so in the New Testament. We do not ask, require, nor expect our visitors to give.
Come and Visit!
We hope you will consider visiting with us. You will not be embarrassed in any way. If there is something we do that intrigues you, please, do not hesitate to ask about it; we will be happy to answer your questions. Come and bring your family; we have a place for each one of you!
