The Vision of Restoration, Part 2 (AM)

Scripture Reading:  Jeremiah 6:16

Introduction

A.  Restoration is often necessary because we all have a tendency to go our own way (Isaiah 53:6).

B.  Faithful leaders through the centuries have labored fervently to help bring God’s people back into harmony with His will.

Discussion

I.  How successful has the Restoration been?

A.  According to ecumenism, the Restoration has been a miserable failure and ought to be abandoned.

B.  When Jesus prayed for unity (John 17:21), He was praying for those who accept His word (vv 6–8, 17–19).

C.  As you look around yourself, what would you conclude about the success of the Restoration?

II.  Is the Restoration complete?

A.  Even though we have come so far, we must never think that we have arrived (Philippians 3:12–14).

B.  We must never allow ourselves to grow complacent (1 Corinthians 10:12; Hebrews 2:1).

C.  The Restoration will finally be complete when our Lord at last returns (Acts 3:21).

Conclusion

A.  We have come a long way, and we have many predecessors for whom to be grateful. Now is certainly not the time for us to let down our guard or give up the fight.

B.  Is a restoration in order in your life (Psalms 51:12)?
