Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 13:13
Introduction:
I. New Year’s resolutions are now being made, and while many of us will make them, few will keep them.
II. To avoid failure, resolutions should be specific, few and written down with reminders in place.
III. The New Testament Church at Corinth was in need of resolve to overcome many problems.
IV. We learn from 1 Corinthians 10:31, “…whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (Colossians 3:17)
V. Our resolutions can be placed in categories of faith, hope and love, with the desire to improve in each of these areas.
Discussion:

B. Faith is the motivation for purity of life (quitting bad habits). (2 Timothy 2:22)
C. Faith is the motivation for reading more (Romans 12:2; Hebrews 11:1; Romans 10:17).
II. Hope Resolutions
A. Hope is the motivation for living life to the fullest (Romans 12:12; Psalms 18:24).
B. Hope is the motivation for being frugal with money (Luke 12:15; Ecclesiastes 5:10).
III. Love Resolutions
A. Love is the motivation for being a better husband or wife (Ephesians 5:25).
B. Love is the motivation for volunteering to help others (Galatians 6:10).
