Some Walking Instructions (PM)

Scripture Reading:  Ephesians 4:1–6

Introduction

In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul speaks of the wonderful works that God has done on our behalf, but he also gives us instruction regarding what God expects from His children in this world.

Discussion

I.  In the first half, Paul talks about what God has done for us.

A.  God has redeemed us through the blood of Christ (1:3–7).

B.  God has called us out of a world of darkness and death (2:1–13).

C.  God brought us all together into one body (2:14–22).

II.  In the second half, Paul discusses what God expects from us.

A.  God wants us to endeavor to maintain the unity that He worked so hard to establish (4:1–6).

B.  God wants us to walk in light (5:8), in wisdom (5:15), and in love (5:1–2).

Conclusion

Ultimately our goal is not to keep the world from being worldly, but to call people out of the darkness and into God’s magnificent light.
