Scripture Reading: Exodus 12:21–23
Introduction
A. When Peter told the Jews that it was the name of Jesus that had made the lame man walk, he added that salvation in any other name is impossible (Acts 4:12).
B. Regardless what men may say, Jesus tells us that we have no hope of salvation without Him (John 8:24; 14:6).
Discussion
I. God has often designated one specific place of salvation.
A. When God destroyed the world, the only ones saved were inside the ark (Genesis 7:23).
B. When God struck the firstborn in Egypt, the only ones saved were inside the houses with blood applied (Exodus 12:21–23).
C. When God destroyed Jericho, the only ones saved were inside the house of Rahab (Joshua 2:18–19; 6:17).
II. Where is God’s designated place of salvation today?
A. Today we find salvation only in Christ (Acts 4:12).
B. The only way into Christ is by baptism (Galatians 3:26–29).
C. God adds all the saved to the church (Acts 2:38–41).
D. This is the church that Jesus built (Matthew 16:18) and that honors Him as its only Sovereign (Ephesians 1:22–23).
Conclusion
A. There is no name like the name of Jesus (Philippians 2:9), and there is no salvation in any name besides (Acts 4:12).
B. Still it is not enough simply to call upon the name of Jesus; it is imperative that we seek to do the Father’s will (Matthew 7:21).
C. If God were to close the door today on the place of salvation, would you be on the right side of it?
