[Scripture Reading: Matthew 11:28-30]
Introduction
A. When Jesus says that His yoke is easy, this means that it is manageable and pleasant to carry.
B. Jesus also teaches that the Christian life is difficult at times (Matthew 7:13-14; 10:22-28).
Discussion
I. Looks can be deceiving.
A. Satan’s way looks easy, but it isn’t really (Matthew 7:13; 8:28-32; 2 Peter 2:19; Romans 6:20-23).
B. The Lord’s way might not look easy (Matthew 19:16-22), but the truth is that it is easier than any other.
C. Those who have traveled both roads can tell you how true this is (Ecclesiastes 1:14-18; 2:4-11; 12:13-14).
II. You will be surprised how easy Christ’s yoke is.
A. God never requires us to carry more than we are able (Deuteronomy 14:24-26; 1 Corinthians 10:13; 1 John 5:3).
B. You’ll be amazed how much you can carry with the Lord’s aid (Matthew 19:26; Hebrews 2:16-18).
Conclusion
A. We will all bear a burden through life, either a light one or a heavy one—the choice is ours.
B. If you are tired of carrying the heavy load that Satan has compelled you to bear, why not lay it down today and try the yoke that Jesus offers instead?
