The Assurance of God's Amazing Grace (AM)

Scripture Reading:  Ephesians 2:8–10

Introduction

A.  When God saves us, we become the recipients of a beautiful gift that we could never have won on the basis of merit.

B.  Even though we know we can never repay God, Satan would like to convince us that we must.

Discussion

I.  God’s grace is truly amazing.

A.  God’s grace is a sure promise to the faithful (Romans 4:1–4, 17–22; 5:16, 23–24).

B.  God’s grace is extended to all men (Romans 5:12–21; Titus 2:11).

C.  God extended His grace to us while we were sinners (Romans 5:6–11).

II.  Don’t frustrate the grace of God, but don’t discount it either.

A.  God’s grace should inspire peace within us (Romans 5:1–5).

B.  God’s grace teaches us how to live our lives (Romans 6:1–7; Titus 2:11–14; Matthew 5:43–48; 6:12).

C.  I fall from God’s grace when I choose to return to my former master (Romans 6:12–17).

Conclusion

A.  If you are struggling with sin, don’t think you are alone in your struggle (Romans 7:15–25), and don’t think that God didn’t expect that you would (1 John 2:1).

B.  Instead of losing heart, let God help you, and put your trust in His grace to make up for your shortcomings as you let Him transform you into the glorious image of His Son.
