Scripture Reading: Psalm 19:1–3
Introduction
A. What we believe about where we come from will have a tremendous effect on how we live from day to day.
B. While science has certainly helped us in many ways, there will always be important questions that it simply cannot answer.
Discussion
I. We can see God’s design in all of creation.
A. When we look up at the sky, we can see tremendous order and beauty (Psalms 19:1–3).
B. When we look inside our own bodies, we find extraordinary complexity (Psalms 139:14).
C. When we look at the church, we can also see the wisdom of a loving God (Ephesians 4:16).
II. God designed us with a purpose.
A. He intended different purposes for male and female (Genesis 1:27).
B. He designed the church to reflect His glorious light in this dark world (Ephesians 3:9–11; Matthew 5:14–16).
C. He intends good things for each of us (John 14:1–3; 1 Corinthians 15:35–49; 1 John 3:2).
Conclusion
A. If you can believe that this world and all the lifeforms that inhabit it are the result of a cosmic accident, you can believe that the carved images on Rushmore could be the result of erosion.
B. The truth is that you have a cause––a cause which provided not only the energy to create you, but also a reason to.
