Scripture Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:17
Introduction
A. Even if your life is nothing like what you imagined when you were younger, can you still see ways in which God has blessed you in unexpected ways?
B. No matter what happens, we ought to remember that God’s vision for our lives is surely superior to our own.
Discussion
I. When your own vision fails, it may be because God intends to inspire a better own in its place.
A. The Lord certainly gave Saul a new vision (Galatians 1:10–16; 2 Corinthians 12:1–10; Acts 20:24; 2 Timothy 4:8).
B. Jesus also gave His disciples a new vision, especially with regard to the kingdom (Matthew 18:1–4).
C. We could add David to this list (2 Samuel 7), along with Moses and many others.
II. Do you need help with your vision?
A. God will change the way you see the world (Philippians 3:4–11; Romans 7:7–13; 2 Peter 3:10–13).
B. God will change the way you see people (Acts 10–11; Galatians 3:28; James 2:1–10; Matthew 16:26).
C. God will also change the way you see Jesus (John 7:12; 11:27, 48).
Conclusion
A. If you have lost your focus or if it has shifted away from the goal, maybe it’s time to let God made some adjustments.
B. Yes, you may have to give up your own vision, but rest assured that Christ guarantees you a better one.
