A Greater Mind (AM)

Scripture Reading:  Matthew 12:41–42

Introduction

A.  Because we serve such a great God, we have a greater hope, a greater peace, a greater faith, a greater love, and a greater joy than this world could ever understand.

B.  We also have access to the greatest mind this world has ever known. Isn’t that something everyone should want to have?

Discussion

I.  Christ is greater than all the rest in every category.

A.  He is greater than any other prophet (Matthew 12:41; Hebrews 3:3–6; John 8:53, 58; Matthew 3:11).

B.  He is greater than any other priest (Hebrews 7:23–28; 10:11–14; 4:14–16).

C.  He is greater than any other king (Matthew 12:42; Acts 13:36; 2:29).

D.  He is greater than any angel (Hebrews 1:4–14).

II.  True greatness comes only through humility.

A.  We have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16).

B.  The greatest mind was one that humbles itself (Philippians 2:5–8; Matthew 18:4; 19:30; Luke 22:25–27).

C.  Because He humbled Himself, God highly exalted Him (Philippians 2:9–10).

Conclusion

A.  Only God can make us truly great, and He will exalt us if we will humble ourselves as Jesus did (James 4:10).

B.  If you want a greater mind, we can recommend none more highly than the mind of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
