Trusting God to Supply Our Needs

by Roby Ellis

[Scripture Reading: Psalm 18:46-50]

Introduction

In a time when the economy is fragile and Social Security is nearing bankruptcy, we need to keep in mind the fact that God is really the One Who provides for us.

I. God knows and provides our physical needs.

A. God provides for the flowers and the fowl (Matthew 6:26-31).

B. Even in lean times He has always satisfied His children’s basic needs (Exodus 16:14-24; Genesis 45:5; 1 Kings 17:1-16).

C. We must learn to be content with God’s provisions (Philippians 4:11-12; 1 Timothy 6:5-10).

D. Do you trust God to provide your physical needs?

II. God also knows and provides our spiritual needs.

A. God provides the instruction that we so desperately need (Jeremiah 10:23; Proverbs 16:25; 2 Timothy 3:13-17).

B. God also provides the things we need in order to accomplish His will (Genesis 22:13; 2 Corinthians 8:12).

C. When temptation arises, God always provides a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:12-13; 2 Peter 2:5-9; Genesis 39:12).

D. Again we must be content with God’s provision without coveting more (Deuteronomy 29:29).

Conclusion

If we will learn to be content with what God has given us and to truly put our trust in Him, we will be richer than the wealthiest who cannot find pleasure in all the worldly possessions they store up on this earth (1 Timothy 6:6).
