We believe that “we must speak where the Bible speaks, be silent where the Bible is silent, call Bible things by Bible names and do Bible things in Bible ways” (cf. 1 Peter 4:11). Therefore, our beliefs are found and based only in the Word of God—the Bible. Here is a selection of scriptures outlining what we believe on some main Bible subjects.
About the Inspiration of the Scriptures
“The entirety of Your word is truth” (Psalm 119:160).
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
“[P]rophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:21).
About the Old and New Testaments
“Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God… But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter” (Romans 7:4,6).
“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope” (Romans 15:4).
“Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor” (Galatians 3:24-25).
“…having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross” (Colossians 2:14).
“In that He says, ‘A new covenant,’ He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away” (Hebrews 8:13).
“And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is in force after men are dead, since it has no power at all while the testator lives” (Hebrews 9:15-17).
About the Universe and Everything in It
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1).
“For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them” (Exodus 20:11).
“For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God” (Hebrews 3:4).
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:1,14).
“…Christ…, who is over all, the eternally blessed God” (Romans 9:5).
“[A]ll should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him” (John 5:23).
“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory” (1 Timothy 3:16).
“But to the Son He says: ‘Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom’” (Hebrews 1:8).
About the Plan of Salvation
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8).
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).
“Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 17:30).
“[I]f you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
“There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 3:21).
“Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life” (Revelation 2:10).
About Christian Worship
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24).
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:42).
“Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread…” (Acts 20:7).
“[S]peaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord” (Ephesians 5:19).
“On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside” (1 Corinthians 16:2).
About the Church
“And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:47).
“…the church of God which He purchased with His own blood” (Acts 20:28).
“…Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body” (Ephesians 5:23).
“There is one body” (Ephesians 4:4).
“The churches of Christ greet you” (Romans 16:16).
About the Kingdom
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God” (John 3:5).
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love” (Colossians 1:13).
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” (Hebrews 12:28).
About the Gospel
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16).
“[I]f anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed” (Galatians 1:9).
“…the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, which has come to you, as it has also in all the world” (Colossians 1:5-6).
“…the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven” (Colossians 1:23).
About Heaven and Hell
“And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (Matthew 25:46).
“[I]t is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power” (2 Thessalonians 1:6-9).
